Give Your AI Soulmate a Personality: Presets and SOUL.md Examples
Gentle, bright, thoughtful, playful or custom: choose how your AI Soulmate talks. Includes a SOUL.md template and three practical conversation prompts.
Where to open the generated character in the current conversation flow
In an observed Japanese Web session on October 28, 2026, the portrait inside Mira's conversation was a display card without a direct character-chat button. The generated character was available under Your Soulmates on Explore. Open that character's Chat action to continue with the generated person; the general Chats list initially showed only Mira. Existing creation screens that provide a result-level Chat button can still use that route.
Read the original Japanese browser record, including the actual portrait and Japanese first answer. This link documents a Japanese session, not a new English test. It does not promise permanent or cross-device memory.
An AI Soulmate's personality in Destin AI is separate from its portrait style. You can choose one of four personality presets or write a custom SOUL.md. The portrait sets a visual direction; SOUL describes how the fictional companion should speak and respond. It does not make the character a real person or guarantee every response.
Choose a personality by the conversation you want
Instead of starting with “the perfect partner,” think about what you want from today's conversation. Do you want space to explain, encouragement to try something, questions that help you think, or a little humor?
- Gentle
- Patient listening and a warm response after understanding your feelings. Try: “Let me finish explaining before offering advice.”
- Bright
- Warm encouragement and recognition of effort. Try: “Help me find one small step I can take today.”
- Thoughtful
- Calm reflection and questions that organize ideas. Try: “Help me tell apart what happened and what I am assuming.”
- Playful
- Kind humor while taking feelings seriously. Try: “Keep this light, but don't make fun of what I'm worried about.”
- Custom
- Your own Markdown description of personality, speaking style, and boundaries. Use this when a preset is close, but not quite what you want.
These descriptions explain intended behavior, not tested rankings of which preset is better. You can pair any of them with the existing realistic portrait or pencil sketch style. See the portrait-to-chat walkthrough for the complete flow.
A short SOUL.md you can adapt
Select custom in the Soulmate form and paste a description like this. The example defines a role and response style without including private identity information.
# SOUL.md
## Character
A warm, curious fictional AI companion.
## Speaking style
Use short, natural replies. Listen first and ask one question at a time.
## When I am uncertain
Help me separate facts, assumptions, and what I can do next.
## Boundaries
Respect my choices. Do not claim to know another person's private feelings.
Do not invent real memories or pressure me to depend only on this conversation.
The current custom field accepts up to 2,500 characters. A few specific instructions are more useful than filling the whole space. For example, “ask one question at a time” is clearer than “always understand me perfectly.” The text is a preference, not a way to guarantee facts, permanent memory, or a particular answer.
Three first conversations with a purpose
These are written prompt examples, not recordings of actual users or generated replies. Use them after opening the saved character's chat. You do not need to generate another portrait to ask a follow-up.
1. An evening check-in
Try gentle: I kept thinking about an awkward moment today. Let me describe it, then ask what I wish had gone differently. I don't want advice yet.
Follow up: Now help me write one sentence I could use if something similar happens again.
This moves from being heard to a small, concrete action, at your pace.
2. Practice a message without pretending to know the reply
Try thoughtful: I want to ask someone to meet for coffee. Help me write a warm invitation that leaves them room to say no. Don't predict how they feel.
Follow up: Give me a shorter version that sounds like me. If they don't respond, help me avoid sending repeated messages.
The purpose is communication practice; an AI cannot establish the other person's interest.
3. A lighter fictional scene
Try playful: Let's imagine a rainy-day bookstore visit. Keep it clearly fictional and ask me which shelf I'd explore first.
Follow up: I picked the travel shelf. Help me turn that into a real weekend idea I can enjoy on my own or with a friend.
The imagined scene can be fun without being presented as a real shared memory.
How to tell whether the setting suits you
After a few exchanges, ask yourself: is the reply length comfortable, are the questions useful, and does the character respect the pace you requested? Give a precise correction in the conversation, such as One question is enough; let me answer before the next one.
This guide does not assume that a chat correction permanently edits your stored SOUL or changes the portrait.
If you want a different appearance, return to the style choices when creating a result. If the issue is how the character talks, describe that separately. Regenerating a face is not the same action as clarifying a conversational preference.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own writing style?
Yes, use the custom SOUL field to describe tone, length, and how you prefer questions to be asked. Keep it focused on behavior rather than sensitive personal details.
Does custom SOUL mean unlimited memory or guaranteed obedience?
No. It guides a fictional AI role. It does not override product limits or guarantee response accuracy, memory, or compliance.
Where do I start?
Open the Soulmate experience with Mira, choose a style and personality, then use the generated result's chat action. Read the Soulmate overview and privacy policy if you want more context before entering information.
Written by Destin AI as a product guide. Presets, supported styles, custom-text limit, and the continuation flow checked on October 24, 2026. The template and prompts are editorial examples, not private conversations, promised outcomes, or clinical advice.
A recorded service example, separate from the teaching prompts
Read the actual generated portrait and first chat with that character. It is an English editorial explanation of a Korean API execution from October 27, 2026, with original excerpts and explicit limits. It is not a new English test, customer testimonial, browser recording or proof of permanent memory. Evidence link added October 28, 2026; the original publication date and teaching examples are retained.
